"My wife is better able to comment on these than I and she tells me that
they're pretty good. These are very different to the rather expensive
wooden hooks I bought her for Christmas - these are huge by comparison.
I don't know if there's an advantage to having a particularly long
needle but if there is then you'll get it from these.
Also, each needle is a different size and colour so they are colour-coded which is cool handy so instead of looking down the back of a sofa fir a size 5, you're instead looking for a red stick, which is easier to get right."
"My nan was an avid knitter and crocheter ( is that a word? Well, I'm
sure you know what I mean) and taught me the very basics. Wasn’t
something I really enjoyed though but now one of the grandkids wants to
learn so these came in handy.
I hadn’t expected they’d be so big! A massive 14 inches long, but that means they’re always easy to find and I’m sure those doing more than basic chains and doubles will fund the extra length useful. They’re called Afghan Crochet hooks, and that's a type that stays on the needle, I also have seen it referred to as Tunisian crochet, very useful for making clothes. You Tube has some great videos if you’re interested, and it expands the range of things you can make. I might have a look at some of those, I like new-to-me techniques to try.
They come in a variety of sizes, each clearly labelled on the hook with a stopper to prevent stitches sliding off. They’re lightweight, but not so much that they’re uncomfortable. The wool or cotton used slides easily along the length ( I did a basic try for review purposes, have ordered some wool from Curtzy to try more). Visually I like the range of colours, doesn't affect function of course but aesthetics are important too.
Its a useful, hardwearing set for a great price"
"The hooks arrived much more quickly than estimated. They are colour-coded for size. I've only had a small practice so far as I am a beginner but they seem very smooth and the yarn glides well over them. This was an amazingly good price to start off my new hobby of Tunisian crochet. "
"These hooks are a great size great colours easy to work with and no slipping. I am a beginner and trying Tunisian crochet for the first time I have not come across any problems. "
