Shrug Crochet Pattern- whilst we hope that this free crochet pattern works out well for you The Knitting Wool Store disclaims all responsibility.
EASY BREEZY SHRUG reproduced from Joyful Yarns Crochet
This pattern is written so it can be made for any size, using some simple measurements. You can use any yarn weight, any hook size! This is worked as a rectangle, then some simple seaming for arms/sleeves.
If the shrug is going to be worn for warmer weather months, I recommend using a cotton, hemp, linen, or cotton blend yarn. Acrylic and wool/wool blend yarns are great for colder weather months.
MATERIALS: *Your choice of yarn (amount of yarn needed will vary depending on yarn weight used, hook size used, and the size of the finished shrug)
*Hook of your choice--I recommend using the hook size appropriate for the yarn weight you have chosen
Crossed Triple--Skip one stitch, work triple crochet into next stitch; working behind the other triple, work a triple crochet into back loop of skipped stitch.
Ch = chain
st(s) = stitch(es)
hdc = half double crochet
CrTr = crossed triple
Tr = triple crochet
sl st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
sk = skip

First you will need the following measurements to determine the width and length of your shrug piece:
1. Stand with arms out to your side, parallel to the floor. Measure from one arm to the other across the back from where you want the sleeve hem to lie. (For example, from mid-bicep to mid-bicep.) This will be your
length of the starting chain.
2. Measure from nape of neck to the middle of your back, wherever you want the hem to lie. (For example to the middle of your back.) Measure your arm circumference at the point you want the sleeve hem to lie. Add those two numbers together. This will be the height of your piece.
*Turn chains do NOT count as a stitch throughout the pattern.
Ch a multiple of 2 until you reach the the measurement you determined in Step 1 above. Add 2 more chains.
Row 1: Hdc in 3rd ch from hook, and in each across. Ch4 and turn.
Row 2: CrTr across. Ch4 and turn.
Row 3: Tr in 1st st, Cr Tr across to 2nd to last st, tr in last st. Ch4 and turn.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until piece is desired length (the measurement determined in Step 2 above). On last Row 3, chain 2 and turn.
Row 4: Hdc in 1st st, and each across. Fasten off.
With right side together, fold in half and match up rows lengthwise. Sew from outer edge of each side for sleeves. (Sew in as desired for sleeve length, allowing for opening for neck/shoulders. It may help to sew a couple inches together and then try it on to see how much more you need to sew.)
Trim on sleeves:
Sl st join in any st; sc in same st. *Ch3, sk 2 sts, sc*; repeat from * to * around sleeve edge, ending
