Ladies Cable Stitch Sweater with Cap Sleeves

Ladies Cable  Sweater Pattern- whilst we hope this free knitting pattern works out well for you The Knitting Wool Store disclaims responsibility.

Size: 36/39/44/48/50 inches

Materials: Alize Burcum Batik ( model shown in  1900.)
500g,600g,700g,800g,900g

STRAIGHT NEEDLES 3.5 and 4.5mm

Techniques & Abbreviations:-
RS - Right Side
WS - Wrong Side
TBL - Through the back loop
K2tog - Knit 2 together - right leaning decrease
P2tog - Purl 2 together
SSK - left leaning decrease
Slip the first stitch knitwise, slip the second stitch
purlwise then slide the left-hand needle into the
front part of both stitches and knit them together.

M1P - Make one purl - increase
With your left needle, pick up the bar between the
stitches from back to front, then use the right
needle to purl this bar through the front loop.
2/1 LC: Slip next 2 stitches to cable needle and
place at front of work, k1, then k2 from cable
needle.
2/1 RC: Slip next stitch to cable needle and place
at back of work, k2, then k1 from cable needle.
2/2 LC: Slip next 2 stitches to cable needle and
place at front of work, k2, then k2 from cable
needle.
2/2 RC: Slip next 2 stitches to cable needle and
place at back of work, k2, then k2 from cable
needle.
3/3 RC: Slip next 3 stitches to cable needle and
place at back of work, k3, then k3 from cable
needle.
2/1 LPC: Slip next 2 stitches to cable needle and
place at front of work, p1, then k2 from cable
needle.
2/1 RPC: Slip next stitch to cable needle and place
at back of work, k2, then p1 from cable needle.

Knitting Instructions

Back: With 3.5mm needles cast on 82/90/102/112/124 sts.
Rib Row 1 (RS): K 2/2/2/3/3, *P2, K2, repeat until 0/0/0/1/1 st remains, K 0/0/0/1/1.
Rib Row 2 (WS): P 2/2/2/3/3, *K2, P3, repeat until 0/0/0/1/1 st remains, P 0/0/0/1/1.
Repeat Rib Rows 1 & 2 until work measures 2” from cast on edge. Change to 4.5mm needles

Pattern Row 1 (RS): K2, work Right Diagonal chart 4 times, K 7/11/17/22/28, work Back Cable Panel over 16 sts, K 7/11/17/22/28, work Left Diagonal chart 4 times, K2.
Pattern Row 2 (WS): P2, work Left Diagonal chart 4 times, P 7/11/17/22/28, work Back Cable Panel over 16 sts, P 7/11/17/22/28, work Right Diagonal chart 4 times, P2.
Repeat Pattern Rows 1 & 2 until work measures 14/14.5/14.5/14.5/15” from cast on edge.


Next Row (RS): Bind off 3/4/5/5/6 sts, work across in pattern.
Next Row (WS): Bind off 3/4/5/5/6 sts, work across in pattern.
76/82/92/102/112 sts.
Raglan Shaping:
Raglan Row 1 (RS) - decrease row: K2, SSK, work across in pattern as set to last 4 sts, K2tog, K2. (2 sts decreased.)
Raglan Row 2 (WS): P3, work across in pattern as set to last 3 sts, P3.
Repeat Raglan Rows 1 & 2 24/27/30/35/38 times
more, 25/28/31/36/39 times total. Place remaining 26/26/30/30/34 sts. on a holder.

Front: Work cast on ribbing as for back then change to 4.5mm needles.
Pattern Row 1 (RS): K2, work Right Diagonal chart 3/3/4/5/6 times, K 1/5/5/4/4, work Front Cable Panel over 40 sts, K 1/5/5/4/4, work Left Diagonal chart 3/3/4/5/6 times, K2.
Pattern Row 2 (WS): P2, work Left Diagonal chart 3/3/4/5/6 times, P 1/5/5/4/4, work Front Cable Panel over 40 sts, P 1/5/5/4/4, work Right

Raglan Shaping:
Raglan Row 1 (RS) - decrease row: K2, SSK, work across in pattern as set to last 4 sts, K2tog, K2. (2 sts decreased.)
Raglan Row 2 (WS): P3, work across in pattern as set to last 3 sts, P3.
Repeat Raglan Rows 1 & 2 17/20/23/28/31 times
more, 18/21/24/29/32 times total. 40/40/44/44/48 sts.

Front Neck Shaping:
Pattern to centre 14/14/18/18/22 sts place on a holder.

Break yarn and work each side separately

Right Side- Front Neck Row 1 (RS) - decrease row: K2, SSK,work across in pattern as set to last 2 sts, K2tog

Front Neck Row 2 (WS) - decrease row: P2tog work across in pattern to last 3 sts, P3

Front Neck Row 3 (RS) - decrease row: K2, SSK, work across in pattern as set; work across in patterns to last 4 sts, K2tog, K2.

Front Neck Row 4 (WS): P3, work across in patterns as set; work across in patterns as set to last 3 sts, P3.

Work Front Neck Rows 3 & 4 4 times more. (4 sts decrease
per side)

Next Neck Row (RS): K2tog twice; K2tog
twice.
Next Neck Row 14 (WS):P2tog and pull yarn
through to bind off; P2tog and pull yarn through
to bind off.

Left Side: work as for front reversing shaping

Cap Sleeves:

Rib Row 1 (RS):*K1, P1, repeat * to last st, K1.

Rib Row 2 (WS):

*P1, K1, repeat * to last st, P1.
Repeat Rib Rows 1 & 2 until work measures 1.5”
from cast on edge.
Row 1 (WS): P 18/22/26/31/35, place marker,work Cap Sleeve Panel over 21 sts, place marker, P 18/22/26/31/35.
Row 2 (RS):K to marker, work Cap Sleeve Panel, K to end.
Row 3 (WS):P to marker, work Cap Sleeve Panel, P to end.
Row 4 (RS)- decrease row: Bind off 3/4/5/5/6 sts, work across in pattern.
Row 5 (WS) - decrease row: Bind off 3/4/5/5/6 sts, work across in pattern. 51/57/63/73/79 sts.

Raglan Shaping:
Raglan Row 1 (RS) - decrease row: K2, SSK, K to marker, work Cap Sleeve Panel, K to last 4 sts, K2tog, K2.
Raglan Row 2 (WS): P to marker, work s Cap Sleeve Panel, P to end.
Note: When row 29 of the Cap Sleeve Panel is complete, switch to stockinette stitch.
Repeat Raglan Rows 1 & 2 24/27/30/35/38 times
more, 25/28/31/36/39 times total. Bind off 1 st.

Long Sleeves: With 3.5mm needles cast on  on 40/40/44/50/56 sts.
Rib Round: *K1, P1, repeat * to end.
Repeat Rib Round until work measures 1.5”. Change to 4.5mm needles
Row 1: P 1/1/3/6/9, place marker, work Long Sleeve Cable Chart over 38 sts, place marker, P 1/1/3/6/9.
Increase Row: P1, M1P, P to marker, work Sleeve Cable Chart, P to last st, M1P, P1. (2 sts increased) Work 11/7/6/5/5 rows even in patterns as set.
Work these 12/8/7/6/6 rows 7/11/13/15/16 time more , 8/12/14/16/17 times total. 56/64/72/82/90 sts.
Work even in pattern until work measures
16/17/17/18/18.5” from cast on edge.
Bind off.
Soak in warm water and  block out.

Finishing:

Join raglan seams leaving left back open. Using 3.5mm needles and starting at top left pick up 13-20 sts. down left front then K across centre sts. on front holder, pick up 13-20 sts. along right front then K across centre sts. on back holder. Work 1.5"/4cmm in 2x2 rib. Cast off. Join left back raglan seam. Join side  and sleeve seams. Attach long sleeve sections under the cap sleeve.
