Vertical Pocket with Ribbed Edge
This method uses a finer yarn for the lining which is added on, together with the pocket edging, after the garment has been completed. It is ideal for chunky yarns where 3 layers would be too bulky for a pocket.
Instructions for How to Knit Vertical Pockets-
1, Work until start of pocket is reached, ending with a right-side row. Work to position of pocket, turn and leave the remaining sts. on a holder.Continue knitting on these stitches until the depth of pocket is reached, ending with a wrong side row.Leave these sts. on a second holder.
With wrong side facing return to stitches on first holder and work the same number of rows as for the first holder. Then knit one more row, so ending with a right-side row.
2, Now knit across all stitches from holder, keeping the yarn taut as you knit the two sets of stitches together.
