English Fishermans Rib Stitch is a traditional rib knitting stitch which is very easy to work. After the first foundation knit row all the subsequent rows are worked in the same way. It creates a rib with a nice pronounced effect.
Cast on an even number of stitches plus 2 edge stitches
Row 1 Knit to end
Row 2 K1 *K1 k1B (insert right-hand needle into stitch below the next stitch on the left-hand needle and knit it in the usual way allowing the stitch above to drop off the needle.) Rep from * to end K1.
Row 2 forms the pattern and is repeated throughout.
