A crochet finger wrap is used when you want to make a tight centre at the start of your crochet piece and can be particularly useful when crocheting in rounds were you want a flat piece and also for making amigurumi, bags and hat.
Step 1; Wrap the yarn once ( or two or three times) round your first finger on your left hand.
Step 2: Work the first stitch into the pool as illustrated.
Step 3: Slip the loop off your finger and work the first round into it- double crochet is the stitch used here. Pull gently on the yarn tail to tighten the centre.
