The Coloured Squares Knitting Stitch is a geometric knitting stitch pattern using three colours. Colours not in use can be carried loosely across the back of your work, and in the case of colour C carried up the side of the work between rows. The 3 colours are referred to here as A,B and C.
Using A cast on a multiple of 8 stitches plus an additional eight.
Row 1: K4B, * 2A,6B, repeat from * to last 4 stitches, K2A,2B.
Row 2: P2B,* 2A,6B, repeat from to last 6 stitches, P2A, 4B.
Row3: K4A, * 2B,6A,repeat from * to last 4 stitches,2B,4A.
Row4: P2A, * 2B,6A, repeat from * to last 6 stitches, K2B,4A.
Row 5: *K2C,2A,2B,2A,repeat from * to end.
Row 6: *P2A,2B,2A,2C,repeat from to end.
Rows 7 and 8 as rows 3 and 4.
These 8 rows form the pattern.
