Size: 2/3 - 4/5 - 6/8 years
To fit head circumference:
40/45 - 45/48 - 48/52 cm
Materials: Alize Folklorik Batik, example shown in Bonfire Night, 100g/200g/200g, 1 pair 4mm straight knitting needles.
Worked top down .Cast on 6-6-8 sts. leave long tail for sewing up.
Row 1: K to end inserting 6-6-8 markers, 2 sts. apart.
Row 2: P to end.
Row 3: K to end, increasing 1 st by K2 into same stitch,after every marker = 6,6,8, sts increase.
Row 4: and every alt. row, P to end.
Row 5: K to end, working increases as before
Continue in st.st as above working increases 9-10-8 more times = 72-78-88 stitches., 12-13-11 stitches between each marker. When increases are finished remove markers but place one at the beg. of last inc. row. Work until piece measures 10.5-11-11.5cm from marker.
Work as follows- 1 row K, 1 row P, 1 row K 1 row P.
Next Row, K K tog the first 2 sts and K tog the last 2 sts = 49-53-62 sts. K2 rows.
Next Row,rt side: facing, K 25/27/31, cast off 22/24/26 k to end-25/27/31.
Ear Flaps: work each side separately with remaining stitches on a stitch holder. CO 9/10/11 =16/17/20 titches remaining. Knit in gt.st for 2/2/2.5cm. Dec 1 st inside 1 edge st in each side by K 2 tog, repeat every 4th row 2-2-2 more times and then every other row a total of 3-3-4 times = 3-4-5 sts remain, ear flap measures approx. 7-7-8 cm.
Making Up: Using a blunt large eyed needle take the cast on tail and draw top tightly together and then with right sides facing neatly back stitch seam.
Make 2 Icords 26cm long and stitch neatly inside each ear flap.
Make a Ponpom and attach to top of hat.
