Casting Off Methods.
Casting off is used to finish off a section of knitting, when making buttonholes or for certain types of shaping such as armholes and shoulders etc. Try to keep the cast off stitches even and darn in the ends neatly.

Casting Off with a Crochet hook.
This method casts of loosely and can be used for casting off any stitch pattern.
1,Transfer stitches onto an empty needle so that the yarn end is at the opposite end from the point of the needle.With right side facing, hold the needle with the stitches in your left hand. Slip the first stitch on to a crochet hook and insert the hook into the next stitch.
2,Draw the second stitch through the first stitch with the crochet hook and off the needle. One stitch has been cast off.

Casting Off Knitwise.
1, Knit the first 2 stitches. Insert the point of the needle into the first knitted stitch on the right hand needle.
2, Lift the first knitted stitch over the second and off the right-hand needle, leaving one stitch on the needle. Knit another stitch and continue passing the the first stitch over and off until one stitch remains. Fasten off as below.
Casting Off Purlwise
1,Purl the first 2 stitches. Insert the point of the needle into the first purled stitch on the right hand needle.
2, Lift the first purled stitch over the second and off the right-hand needle, leaving one stitch on the needle. Purl another stitch and continue passing the the first stitch over and off until one stitch remains. Fasten off as below.
