Shrug Knitting Pattern

Soft & Cosy Shrug

Shrug Knitting  Pattern, please feel free to use this knitting pattern and whilst we hope it works out well for you the Knitting Wool Store disclaims all  responsibility.


Sizes: S – M – L – XL - XXL

Materials: Bolero Lux  (model shown in cream and copper)
250-250-300-300-350 g

10mm/80cm  and 8mm/60cm size

Rib:
Row 1 (right side): * P 3, K 2 *, repeat from * - *.
Row 2 (wrong side): * K 3, P 2 *, repeat from * - *.

Decreasing tips: All decs are made on right side rows.
Dec by P 2 tog each side of the center 6 sts.

Increasing tips: So that the number of sts remains constant, you must inc 1 st at each side for every dec at center. Inc on right side rows by K 2 sts in 1 st. Make incs inside 1 edge st to keep the edge smooth. Knit the increased sts in the rib pattern.

Pattern: See diagram M.1.

Back and front piece: Cast on 70-71-72-73-74 sts on needle size 10 mm in Bolero Lux. Work in st.st, right-side knit ,wrong side purl, at the same time dec 1 st each side on every other row a total of 4 times = 62-63-64-65-66 sts. When the piece measures 7-8-9-10-11 cm loosely cast off 17 sts each side = 28-29-30-31-32 sts. Knit until the piece measures 13-14-15-16-17 cm and then loosely cast on 17 new sts each side. Continue in st. st.until the piece measures 15-17-19-21-21 cm. Then inc 1 st each side on every other row a total of 4 times = 70-71-72-73-74 sts. Cast off when the piece measures 20-22-24-26-28 cm.

Assembly: Sew edges A and B tog at both sides with invisible mattress stitches. See diagram.

Edge: Pick up 138-144-150-156-162 sts round the entire opening of the shrug on circular needle size 10 mm. Beginning at a seam knit in M.1 - being  make sure to make a yo + slip a st as if to knit, each side of the seam. When the piece measures 4, 8 and 12 cm inc 1 P stitch each side of "the yo + slip a st as if to knit" in each side, work these stitches in purl so eventually you will have 5 purl stitches each side of the  front centre "the yo + slip a st as if to knit" = 150-156-162-168-174 sts. Cast off when the edge measures 14 cm.

Armholes: Pick up 40-44-48-52-56 sts. around armholes using short 8mm circular needles. Work five rounds in K2, P2 rib, cast off.
